Coffee Poem

Yes, this is a direct tribute to Joyce Kilmer's poem. She provided the framework, the rhythm, the flow, & I plugged and played like a 7-year-old hyped up on Mountain Dew completing a mad-libs book. Enjoy.

Coffee - Sam Graves

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as coffee;

Coffee to thirsty mouth is prest
Against my lips, dark flowing crest;

Coffee that perks like God at play
And lifts my weary head all day;

Coffee that may in summer wear
A nest of ice with whipped cream hair;

Within steamed mugs when snow has lain;
A welcomed warmth against the rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make coffee.

Original Poem: Trees - Joyce Kilmer

I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day, 5
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain. 10

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
